The global industries have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has also accelerated and catalyzed the process of "digital transformation," giving rise to various refreshing innovative applications in the "new normal." To drive industries to leverage high-performance computing, IoT, and AI technologies during the epidemic prevention period, and to create a resilient industrial ecosystem, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs held the Innovation Technology Forum (IPBC Taiwan) and the "Innovative Technology Development and Application in the Post-Pandemic Era" technical promotion meeting during the 2021 Taiwan Innotech Expo. Renowned international companies such as TSMC, MediaTek, Acer, HTC, Nissan, and Nokia were invited to participate. At the same time, the Industrial Development Bureau also focuses on five major innovative applications and collaborates with the industry to exhibit 45 highlighted technologies, showcasing Taiwan's proactive efforts in the global market.
This year's Innotech Expo will be held in a comprehensive manner both online and offline. The physical exhibition will take place from October 14th to 16th at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, while the online exhibition will run from October 14th to 23rd, expanding the exhibition period through a combination of virtual and physical presence. The Industrial Development Bureau, in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), will hold three technical promotion meetings. On October 14th, the first event "Smart Innovation" will be organized, inviting well-known companies such as FANUC Taiwan and Oring Corporation to discuss how to use digitalization, automation, and industrial IoT technologies to maintain Taiwan's leading competitive edge in the international manufacturing field. On October 19th, the second event "Contactless Epidemic Prevention" will feature prominent domestic and international companies like Siemens and Thermo Fisher Scientific, who will share insights into the use of 5G, AI, and cloud technologies to construct new types of industrial services and manufacturing models in the post-pandemic era. The third event on October 22nd will focus on "Green Manufacturing," where experts from ITRI will analyze the environmental impacts of green manufacturing from various aspects, including new design, manufacturing processes, materials, and intelligent empowerment, aiming to create a green supply chain in Taiwan.
Furthermore, on October 15th, the Industrial Development Bureau will host the Innovation Technology Forum (IPBC Taiwan), which will center around the intellectual property strategies of the 5G industry. The morning session has invited international institutions such as Nissan, Nokia, and Micron to share global trends and patent licensing experiences. The afternoon session will focus on Taiwan's experiences. The Director of the New Generation Communication Research Institute at Foxconn Research Institute, Dr. Tony Wu, will deliver a keynote speech on "5G Development Trends and Intellectual Property Strategies." The concluding summit will host high-level executives including Ms. Mei-Hui Lin, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek; Ms. Lijuan Wu, Global General Counsel of Acer Group; Ms. Pili Chen, Deputy General Counsel and Chief IP Counsel of TSMC; and Mr. Chia-Te Lu, Deputy General Manager and Chief Legal Officer of HTC, engaging in a global online discussion on "5G Economy and Innovative Technology." In addition to the technical promotion meetings and the Innovation Technology Forum, one of the highlights presented by the Industrial Development Bureau is the exhibition of 45 innovative technologies. In the aspect of "Digital Transformation," the highlighted exhibits include the substation inspection robot developed by Taiwan Power Company and Taiwan Intelligent Robot Technology Institute. Long Wang Agricultural Corporation's Farming-as-a-Service (FaaS) platform uses IoT data to establish digital twins of agriculture, enabling real-time crop monitoring and optimized cultivation processes. It is the first smart farm technology exported from Taiwan to Indonesia. Yu Hsian Technologies introduces a mass transfer Micro LED flat stamping technology, a cost-effective solution that enhances yield and production efficiency in Micro LED mass production.
In the field of "Defense and Aerospace," Ruentex Industries' 5G/B5G millimeter-wave array antenna module AiP (Antenna-in-Package) technology can be applied to the radio access network (RAN) architecture required by the open radio access network (O-RAN RU) structure, aiming to create key antenna modules for 5G and low Earth orbit satellites. Additionally, Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation presents a series of domestic aerospace technologies, including the successful maiden flight of the advanced trainer "Brave Eagle" in June 2020, as well as data link communication equipment and carbon fiber composite gearboxes that enhance training efficiency.
In the "Advanced Healthcare" field, the "Technology Epidemic Prevention - AI LiDAR Crowd Monitoring System" developed by ITRI in collaboration with 3D imaging startup Aemass can analyze night market crowd numbers and social distancing, serving as an important reference for epidemic prevention strategies. The system's crowd analysis accuracy exceeds 90%, and it can be extended to applications such as event attendance statistics and augmented reality.
Under the theme of "Smart Living," Hilea Integrative's "Aesthetic Energy Panel" combines solar power generation with European building industry safety and fire specifications, simulating the texture of traditional materials such as marble or wood, creating sustainable zero-energy consumption buildings (ZEB, Zero Energy Building). Golden Smart Technology's "Smart Health Center Solution - RINGOAL Mini" offers a multifunctional weight training exercise device suitable for seniors and women, as well as a health station with multiple functions such as measuring the autonomic nervous system. It provides expert-edited exercise prescriptions, utilizes AI to analyze and recommend resistance and speed, and further analyzes users' exercise performance using big data.
In the realm of "Intelligent Manufacturing," Bofu Intelligent Manufacturing's smart grinding and polishing technology improves traditional grinding processes through automated compensation and flexible force control techniques. The technology not only reproduces the craftsmanship of experienced artisans using intelligent self-adjustment but can also be easily integrated and used with various brand robotic arms. It is an excellent assistant for increasing capacity and profits in industries such as semiconductors, machine tools, and hardware. Solomon's "JustPick Intelligent Sorting System" endows robots with sensing capabilities through AI 3D vision and deep learning. It can successfully identify different objects without prior learning, assisting the manufacturing and logistics industries in replacing manual picking, packaging, and stacking tasks, achieving comprehensive intelligent automation in the workplace.
