In the field of smart manufacturing, there are two highlighted technologies. One is recommended by the Industrial Development Bureau, a substation inspection robot developed through collaboration between Taiwan Power Company and Taiwan Intelligent Robot Technology. Another is strongly recommended by the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, the Evergreen II automatic shuttle loom prototyping machine developed by Shuo Chi Technology.
The substation inspection robot utilizes an outdoor all-terrain mobile platform equipped with thermal imaging/visible light dual-image sensing modules, abnormal sound detection modules, etc. It uses AI artificial intelligence technology to perform various recognitions and issue warnings for abnormal conditions. This enhances the frequency of manual inspection operations or addresses issues that humans cannot hear or see, executing autonomous inspections. Besides saving manpower for substation inspections, it also improves equipment stability and overall power grid supply stability. Additionally, outdoor inspection robots can be applied in many critical and key industries that require inspection and maintenance, such as power, petrochemical, steel, semiconductor, panel... industries.
The Evergreen II automatic shuttle loom prototyping machine breaks tradition and simplifies and reduces the size of traditional weaving equipment with innovative technology. While traditional looms required hundreds of yarn bobbins, Shuo Chi's machine only needs a minimum of "1 yarn" to complete warping, beaming, and weaving. The product uses computer control technology and a user-friendly interface design philosophy, simplifying operations. Prototyping can be completed in as fast as "1 day," significantly enhancing production and operational efficiency, and reducing costs. The "Decrypting Technology Treasure" section showcases the Technology Division's selection of outstanding technology achievements from various projects, including the "Smart Orthopedic Surgery Assistance System" developed by the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre. Similar to a doctor's "satellite navigation," it accurately locates surgical positions, marking the world's first multi-vertebrae positioning navigation system. It has collaborated with medical information company SenNong and advanced medical material company ClearMind Biomedical. This technology uses 3D composite optical positioning and tracking, independently locating and tracking each surgical vertebrae to achieve three-dimensional positioning RMS ≤ 0.5mm. It dynamically corrects the coordinates of each vertebra, avoiding the accumulation of surgical errors, human tremors, and reducing errors caused by handheld instruments. It also reduces the number of X-rays needed for vertebrae positioning by 80%, allowing patients to undergo surgery in a high-security, low-radiation environment. This technology is expected to drive Taiwan's orthopedic manufacturers into the frontline market.
In addition, the Technology Division has selected 13 promising corporate startup team technologies from startup competitions, all showcased in the Decrypting Technology Treasure section, demonstrating their future commercialization and market-entry potential. NanoSeeX from ITRI develops an online semiconductor 2-nanometer manufacturing process key dimension X-ray measurement device, addressing the bottleneck of increased complexity in the semiconductor process during the transition to the 2-nanometer stage, which existing measurement devices cannot satisfy, leading to short circuits and reduced yield. This technology uses reflective X-rays as the basis to develop a pre-process measurement device for the 2-nanometer process, monitoring critical dimensions with atomic-level resolution. This significantly reduces measurement time during the process by 90%, effectively enhancing semiconductor process yield and capacity. This technology targets the 2-nanometer and below wafer foundry market and intends to enter the memory market.
