The prominent Asian invention event, the 2019 Taiwan Innotech Expo, is set to grandly open on September 26th at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. Aligned with industry and technology development trends, this year's expo introduces two new exhibition categories: "Circular Economy" and "National Defense Industry," integrating emerging smart technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a systematic manner. This allows attendees to experience the abundant innovation and research and development capabilities of Taiwan firsthand.
In response to the global focus on circular regeneration issues, the "Sustainable Development Pavilion" has created a dedicated "Circular Regeneration" section. Collaboratively established by the Industrial Development Bureau and the Environmental Protection Administration, this area showcases 16 innovative technologies developed by research and industrial units such as ITRI, ELOOP, Unitech Materials, UWin Nanotech, Hongen Group, Cheng Yea Resources, and Fu Sheng Textile. It presents the innovation and research achievements in Taiwan and around the world to promote the exchange and application of innovative research and technology. Notably, ELOOP's "ECOCO Smart Recycling Machine" is exhibited, enabling users to collect points by depositing PET bottles, plastic cups, and aluminum cans and exchange them for shopping vouchers from major beverage stores, restaurants, and online platforms. This initiative has already attracted nearly ten thousand members.
ITRI is showcasing the "Resource Circulation Index and Analysis System/Circular Material Verification and Matchmaking Platform." This national-level material flow database, jointly created by the Environmental Protection Administration and ITRI, is the world's first database to integrate industry-related tables into a material flow database, serving as a material flow analysis system for decision-making and analysis. In addition to providing the foundation for calculating indicators related to Taiwan's circular economy strategies, the Resource Circulation Index and Trends System also offers supply-demand analysis for raw materials and waste in the industrial chain, presented through visual analysis methods like Sankey diagrams. It is expected to be a crucial foundation for Taiwan's resource circulation and circular economy strategies. Furthermore, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has established the "Circular Material Verification and Matchmaking Platform" under the completed structure of the Resource Circulation Database established by the EPA. Through the use of the latest technologies in information and communication, IoT, and blockchain, this platform enhances social communication. It not only addresses the issue of disposal for many bulk materials but also facilitates the matching of various materials, reducing the burden of landfilling and incineration, and decreasing reliance on natural resources and imported materials.
In the "Future Technology Pavilion," the "National Defense Industry" zone exhibits technologies related to "Aerospace and Defense," "National Shipbuilding," and "Dual-Use of Military and Civilian Technologies." Integrating emerging technologies like AI and IoT, the pavilion presents an immersive "National Defense Industry War Room," providing interactive experiences that make visitors feel as if they are in the midst of a movie-like command center. This effectively displays the innovative research and development achievements in the ecosystem of the national defense industry. Highlight technologies include the "Metal Additive Manufacturing Technology" by ITRI, which establishes an integrated process for defense-related components, playing a key role in achieving the goal of self-reliance and self-manufacturing.
The 2019 Taiwan Innotech Expo will be held from September 26th to 28th at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1.
