In an era of rapid development in information and communication technology, frequent international exchanges, and technology transactions, mastering key intellectual property is equivalent to holding the crucial competitive edge for companies and even countries. Therefore, the "2019 International Intellectual Property Strategy and Technology Transaction Forum," organized by cross-ministerial collaboration including the Ministry of Economic Affairs, will be held on September 27th at the 3rd floor banquet hall of the Taipei International Convention Center. The forum will focus on "Trade Secrets" and "Technology Transactions" as its themes, elaborating on the macro strategy and licensing transactions of intellectual property, how to secure a place for enterprises in the international market, and, from the perspective of speakers who hold positions in the global market, share insights on how Taiwanese enterprises can avoid potential risks and establish a solid footing in operations.
The "International Intellectual Property Strategy and Technology Transaction Forum" will take place on the second day of the "Taiwan Innovative Technology Exhibition" on September 27th. Co-organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, Council of Agriculture, National Development Council, Ministry of Education, Ministry of National Defense, and Environmental Protection Administration, the forum aims to showcase the government's active promotion of the 5+2 industries' innovative plans and major national policies. It hopes to leverage Taiwan's technological integration advantages, activate opportunities for cross-border intellectual property and technology cooperation, and elevate Taiwan to a crucial hub for international technology transactions.
The forum will invite international experts in intellectual property strategy from countries such as the United States and Japan, including James Pooley, former Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO); Zhou Guojun, Asia-Pacific Patent Director of Intel; Motoyuki Honjo, General Manager of Corporate Marketing Strategy Department at NTT DOCOMO; Justin Lewis, Managing Director of Ocean Tomo; Tyler Capson, Asia-Pacific Managing Director of EverEdge, and prominent representatives from well-known Taiwanese multinational corporations, such as Fang Shu-Hua, Vice General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of TSMC, and Su Wen-Tang, Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of MediaTek. They will present operational strategies for business secrets and intellectual property protection from an international perspective and discuss future technological innovation and technology cooperation.
The "Taiwan Innovative Technology Exhibition," held on September 26th, was previously known as the "Taipei International Invention and Technology Trade Show," which had been held for 14 editions. Since its transformation last year, it has also focused on innovative technologies in the 5+2 industries. The exhibition will feature three main theme pavilions: "Future Technology," "Innovative Inventions," and "Sustainable Development." It has invited international institutions and companies from Southeast Asia, Europe, the United States, Japan, and other countries to exhibit in Taiwan. Apart from showcasing Taiwan's recent technological innovations, the event aims to facilitate cross-industry technology exchanges, encourage industry players to participate in patent technology negotiations, and accelerate the internationalization of the "Taiwan Innovative Technology Exhibition."
