This year's "Taiwan Innotech Expo" is centered around three main themes:
Future Technology Hall: Portable Real-time Infectious Disease Molecular Detection System (Industrial Technology Research Institute, ITRI) - A handheld system developed by ITRI's Biomedical Technology Institute for real-time infectious disease molecular detection. Weighing around 700 grams, it's equipped with optimized testing reagents and can complete the testing process within 30 minutes, providing quick detection of virus or bacterial infections, particularly useful for medical care professionals. This technology addresses the seasonal infectious diseases common in the Asia-Pacific region, offering advantages of portability and real-time detection compared to traditional instruments.
Sustainable Development Hall: Disease-resistant and Heat-tolerant Tomato and Pepper Breeding (World Vegetable Center) - The Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center, established through a collaboration among governments of seven countries, including Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and Korea, introduces tomatoes and peppers with resistance to multiple diseases and heat tolerance. These varieties enhance farmers' income and reduce pesticide use, while also aiding in rapid re-cultivation and recovery in disaster-stricken areas amid increasing climate variability.
Innovative Inventions Hall: Smart Underwear Solving Urinary Incontinence (LifeSense Group, Netherlands) - Designed in the Netherlands and manufactured in Taiwan, these smart underwear incorporate sensors, conductive yarns, absorbent fabric, and lace. They help women track urinary incontinence volume and frequency, guiding muscle exercises based on timing and urine volume. When paired with a mobile app, the underwear also serves as a rehabilitation reminder. This product has won the Wearable Medical Award at the German Wearable Technology Conference.
To enhance domestic and international technology exchange and market expansion, this year's expo focuses on connecting international institutions and fostering regional partnerships. Therefore, it has invited more than 50 international organizations and companies from nearly 20 countries in Southeast Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Japan. Participants include prominent names like Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Nissan Motors, and more.
