The First Automotive-grade 1700V Silicon Carbide (SiC) Power Module

Technology Introduction:
•Developed Taiwan's first automotive-grade 1,700V/600A Silicon Carbide (SiC) power module, featuring in-house high-voltage SiC devices and highly reliable sintered packaging technology. Combined with an innovative wave-shaped heatsink design, the module achieves a 15% improvement in thermal performance. The technology significantly enhances system power density, reduces energy losses, and enables a more compact system design. It is well suited for high-voltage electric vehicle applications

• The technology integrates proprietary SiC device, packaging, and thermal management designs, delivering over 1.2 times higher performance than comparable international products. It has successfully passed the AQG-324 automotive qualification standard, establishing a complete indigenous technology platform and commercialization capability.

• The technology has been successfully transferred to domestic manufacturers, with products validated by international automotive OEMs and incorporated into global automotive supply chains. It represents Taiwan's first successful case of a domestically developed SiC power module entering the international automotive market.
Industrial Applications:
This technology can be applied to passenger electric vehicle traction inverters, electric bus motor drive systems, and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain applications. Compared with conventional silicon-based power devices, Silicon Carbide (SiC) power modules offer higher efficiency, lower power losses, and superior thermal performance, enabling increased system power density and reduced energy consumption.

The technology has been successfully integrated into a three-in-one electric vehicle powertrain system and validated through vehicle-level testing. Furthermore, it has been transferred to domestic manufacturers, allowing entry into international automotive supply chains through successful qualification by global automotive OEMs.
