Reefer Guard – Satellite AI Cold Chain Monitoring & Early Warning System

Technology Introduction:
■ The core highlight lies in its ability to actively detect equipment anomalies through edge computing, combined with blockchain technology to ensure data immutability, thereby establishing a trusted data chain for cross-border logistics. This solution not only assists shipping companies and cargo owners in grasping cargo quality in real time, but also integrates the needs of insurance claims, customs inspections, and regulatory authorities to create a comprehensive smart monitoring ecosystem. Through the integration of Taiwan's self-developed technologies, the proposal demonstrates practical implementation value for achieving low-latency, highly reliable monitoring in signal-free ocean environments.

Industrial Applications:
This technology is primarily applied to the global maritime logistics and high-end cold chain (such as fresh produce and pharmaceuticals) industries.

The main application scenario is ocean freight container transport. By integrating multi-orbit satellites and shipborne 5G private networks, the system successfully bridges maritime communication dead zones. It utilizes Edge AI to proactively issue early warnings for equipment anomalies before any temperature control failure occurs, effectively transforming passive "black boxes" into intelligent nodes.

This project is expected to be implemented first in the real-world operational environment of Yang Ming Marine Transport. The technology is projected to reduce cold chain cargo damage by 50% and manual inspection costs by 25%. Furthermore, by integrating blockchain technology to generate an immutable "digital passport," it assists the marine insurance industry in eliminating cross-border claims disputes and helps customs expedite clearance processes. Ultimately, this solution will comprehensively enhance the international influence and competitiveness of Taiwan's maritime AIoT technology.

Wave-In communication、National Taiwan University of Science and Technology、

Wave-In Communication, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), and Askey Computer proposed a "Satellite AI Cold Chain Monitoring & Early Warning System " for the "2025 Satellite Digital Application Innovation Competition." Aimed at addressing the pain point of information opacity during ocean voyages, the solution leverages multi-orbit satellite communication, 5G private networks, and AI-Native technology to transform traditional cargo containers into smart nodes equipped with real-time sensing capabilities.
