Haptic Color Universal System: Inclusive Technology and Social Practice for Color Cognition and Communication among People with Visual Impairments

Technology Introduction:
The Haptic Color Universal System uses tactile geometric patterns, including circles, lines, and waves, to construct a tactile 12-color wheel that enables visually impaired users to understand color relationships and color-mixing logic through touch. The technology has obtained a Taiwan invention patent and has been applied to the collectiond of Shung Ye Museum of Formosa Fine Arts and the tactile exploration learning materials for Pingtung Art Museum.
Industrial Applications:
This technology can be applied in visual impairment education, museum exhibition design, audio description services, tactile educational publishing, and inclusive technology industries. This invention can be extended to more color informaiton from other perceptions. It enables visually impaired users to actively understand colors through touch, enhancing cultural participation, independent living, and the social inclusion principles advocated by the CRPD.
