Domestically Developed LEO Satellite Ground Terminal Communication System
Technology Introduction:
ITRI developed the “LEO Satellite Ground Terminal Communication System,” integrating baseband modules with beam acquisition and tracking technologies. Through technology transfer, ITRI helped bring key technologies into practical use and supported industry partners in completing Taiwan’s first self-developed Ka-band commercial ground terminal system. The communication system has completed end-to-end outdoor communication tests at 100 meters and 2 kilometers, proving that domestically developed ground terminals are capable of real-world data transmission.ŸThe communication system has demonstrated through simulation testing that it can track high-speed satellites within 1 second, with downlink transmission rate up to 200 Mbps, matching global benchmarks.
ŸThe communication system has completed 2 km end-to-end outdoor field testing, validating its communication transmission capability.
Industrial Applications:
Upon successful validation of real satellite connectivity, this system can be widely applied in rural communications, maritime, aviation, disaster response, and mobile network backup. Leveraging LEO satellite high-speed transmission and rapid tracking, it supports real-time video backhaul, remote monitoring, IoT data collection, and emergency communications, enhancing communication resilience where terrestrial networks are limited or disrupted while promoting Taiwan’s satellite terminal and communication module industries.
