2023 Taiwan Innotech Expo Pre-exhibition press conference interview report

The "2023 Taiwan Innotech Expo" will kick off at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 on October 12th, with a preview available online starting today (October 6). The Ministry of Economic Affairs has announced that this year's exhibition will bring together research achievements from 11 government agencies, featuring three main theme pavilions: "Innovation Leadership," "Future Technology," and "Sustainable Development," along with an "Invention Competition Zone." The event will showcase over 1,000 innovative technologies from 430 domestic and international companies and research institutions. The Ministry of Economic Affairs noted that the "Semiconductor" exhibition area, which received significant attention last year, will once again highlight Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem by inviting semiconductor companies from IC design, wafer foundry, and IC packaging and testing fields. Participating companies include MediaTek, TSMC, UMC, Winbond, Powerchip, Vanguard International Semiconductor, AU Optronics, Macronix, and Mirle Automation. These companies will showcase Taiwan's research and development capabilities in the semiconductor industry. The "Innovation Leadership" pavilion will feature seven main themes, including "Semiconductors," "Unlocking Technological Treasures," "Smart Mobility," "Net-Zero Transformation," "Healthcare and Medicine," "Smart IoT," and "Digital Security." Under the guidance of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the "Semiconductor" exhibition area within the Innovation Leadership pavilion is expected to display advanced semiconductor technologies, including applications in automotive devices, data storage, wafer foundry, artificial intelligence, probe cards, and displays. AU Optronics will present the "Smart Transparent AI Translation Counter," which combines AI and high-sensitivity interaction technology, offering a smart visual experience. In the area of "Net-Zero Transformation," the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs recommends "GISTEK's Battery Core Solution and Multi-Application Design." This solution, composed of lithium carbonate cores, can be applied to energy storage, uninterruptible power systems, and unmanned handling vehicles. In the "Healthcare and Medicine" and "Smart Mobility" sections, the Industrial Technology Research Institute will showcase a "Biomimetic Tendon for Soft and Hard Tissue Integration," which uses biomedical composite materials to enhance bone growth, promoting tissue growth around artificial tendons to prevent wear and tear. The "Military Exoskeleton," a long-term development of the Ministry of National Defense, offers features like lightweight, rapid response, and high torque, aiming to improve mission efficiency and reduce the physical burden on soldiers. Under the themes of "Smart IoT" and "Digital Security," the National Development Council recommends the product "High-Precision Low-Orbit Satellite Tracking System" by MELSEC Technologies. This product, developed entirely in Taiwan, can target long-distance, fast-moving objects and serves as a critical technology for next-generation communication ground terminals and anti-aircraft systems. The Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs will showcase "Industrial Control Field AI Detection and Defense Analysis Technology," which uses deep protocol analysis technology and AI-enhanced defense and analysis techniques to protect internal corporate data security. The "Future Technology" pavilion gathers the latest global research technologies in four main technology fields: "AIoT Smart Applications," "Human, Sports, Technology Art," "Net-Zero Technology," and "Biopharmaceuticals and Medical Materials." Additionally, it features three major theme areas: "Semiconductors," "Space Technology," and "Precision Health," illustrating innovative technological advancements in both industry and daily life. In the "Semiconductors" theme area, over 30 breakthrough technologies and advanced materials and processes for future chips in AI, sensors, communications, and energy efficiency will be exhibited. The "Net-Zero Technology" section will showcase the world's first "High-Value Intelligent Environmental-Friendly Meat Freshness Indicator System Developed from Derivatives of Fishery Waste Compounds." This system helps improve the efficiency of parasitic wasp control materials by six times, reducing the use of pesticides and promoting environmentally-friendly cultivation practices. The "Biopharmaceuticals and Medical Materials" area will feature the "Innovative Medication for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Abdominal Pain," which is expected to meet the medical needs of IBS patients, with projected annual sales of $1-3 billion after market release. This year's "Sustainable Development" pavilion focuses on building a livable Taiwan with a focus on three subtopics: "Circular Regeneration," "Carbon Reduction and Prosperity," and "Green Energy Technology." The highlight technologies in this pavilion can be applied to agriculture, energy, and manufacturing industries. These technologies include "Parasitic Wasp Mass Production and Drone Deployment Technology," which enhances the efficiency of parasitic wasp control materials sixfold, "Volatile Organic Compounds Filtration Canister Rupture Detection and Warning Device," which offers real-time monitoring using micro gas detectors with vibration and LED indicator light warning features, "Silicon Waste Recycling and 5N Green Hydrogen Production," which recycles silicon waste from semiconductor manufacturing into high-value silicon dioxide for brand customers and refines green hydrogen to 5N for power generation and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and "High-Efficiency Solar Cell Components for Artificial Satellites," which are domestically developed solar cells for satellites with a conversion efficiency exceeding 30%, reaching international standards. The 2023 Taiwan Innotech Expo has also invited nearly a hundred organizations from 21 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, and South Korea, to showcase more than 137 technologies. This includes world-class companies such as 3M, Infineon, Siemens, and Oxford Instruments. The event aims to promote in-depth international technological exchange, enabling Taiwanese companies to stay informed about the latest technological trends and further driving Taiwan's industrial transformation and international cooperation, establishing Taiwan as a hub for international research and development outcomes exchange.
