The Sensing Device and Method for Efficacy Evaluation of Hearing Protector
Through the integration and development of miniature sound sensing evaluation device, the wearing performance evaluation of hearing protectors is implemented. The device can be installed in the earmuff-type hearing protectors, without damaging the structure and function of the hearing protectors. Also, it can detect the internal exposure volume and noise exposure amount after wearing of the hearing protectors. It can be used to evaluate the actual performance of hearing protectors after wearing in order to serve as a reference for immediate management for the selection, use, exposure dose assessment, and exposure time management of hearing protectors.
Hearing protectors are the last line of defense to maintain hearing health. When hearing protectors are not worn completely or if the fit is not total, there will be sound leakage and the noise exposure will be increased in the ears. However, it is difficult to know the volume of noise exposure in the ear after wearing hearing protectors in an objective way. Therefore, this device integrates a miniature sound sensing and evaluation technology for sound signal acquisition, data calculation and output and also evaluates the wearing performance of hearing protectors. The actual performance of hearing protectors is evaluated in a non-destructive manner which serves as a reference for real-time management for the use of hearing protectors and noise exposure assessment.
