Cellulosic sugar production by ionic solution hydrolysis technology

For the development of sustainable energy, depolymerization of lignocellulosic biomass technology is the key technology to convert biomass into liquid fuel and also corresponds to the principle of “never fighting over food against our citizens”. ITRI’s research group has developed the innovative ionic solution hydrolysis technology, which converts varied lignocellulosic feedstock into sugars under the mild condition. The quality and price of cellulosic sugar are not only able to compete with molasses and but also further supply to the downstream applications. This cellulosic sugar can be further converted into biofuels such as bioethanol and biobutanol via different processes. It also can be applied to any other sugar derivatives chemical industries such as monomers of polymers.
