Since 2018, WorldVeg is collaborating with Taiwanese seed companies and innovative farmers to maintain and provide access to vegetable landraces, which were collected several decades ago. WorldVeg’s seed bank maintains the largest vegetable germplasm collection in the world. To successfully refresh the seed of the landraces, partnerships with seed companies and innovative farmers is essential. The latter will benefit from getting access to valuable germplasm and to participate in the network while at the same time they contribute to safeguard this important genetic resource for humanity. In the growing season of 2019-2020, eight companies and innovative farmers participated and regenerated 303 accessions of 12 crops.
