1.Nutrition technology is the study or use of a designed intervention or program (usually an interdisciplinary approach) to enhance healthy eating behaviors, and/or dietary quality, and/or nutritional status of a target population.
2.“Taiwan Indigenous Vegetables for better diet and health” is an on-line tool applying Nutrition Technology, developed by the WorldVeg and funded by COA. It aims to enhance the dietary diversity and phytonutrient intakes by general consumers in Taiwan through increased public awareness of the nutritional treasures of Taiwan indigenous vegetables. The technology is based on the study of nutritional and functional values of Taiwan indigenous vegetables. We translate the results to simple messages and use of ICT (information communication technology) to communicate with our target population.
3.This product provides the information on:
(1) the diverse vegetable species originated from Taiwan
(2) where and how the consumers can find and enjoy Taiwan Indigenous Vegetables (TIV) through Google My TIV Restaurants, TIV markets and TIV Farms (using Google My Maps tool)
4.The tool can be used by consumers to find the TIV restaurants/farms/markets; by extensionists to promote TIV production and consumption, and as an intervention tool for studying its influence in food environments or eating behaviors.
