電腦廢棄之後、因為數據刪除得不夠完整、所以造成電腦裡的個人資料或機密情報流出、這風險現在引起社會的注意。在政府機關、公共機構、企業等,廢棄電腦或還回租借的電腦的時候需要徹底地刪除其數據。到目前為止最主要的刪除數據方法是在硬碟機上打個洞、但是,這樣的方法還是有修復數據的可能性、所以更需要既安全又確實地刪除數據的方法。硬碟是以微小的磁石(磁性粒子)排列來記錄數據。所以、在數據上加以強烈的磁氣、使排列的磁石變成不規則後便可刪除。目前的硬碟機是採用水平磁氣紀錄方式、所謂的水平磁氣紀錄方式指的是 在記錄媒體上把磁性粒子排列為水平來記錄、不過這幾年漸漸被垂直磁氣紀錄方式取代。
因為垂直磁氣紀錄是對著媒介有深度且情報量很大、所以有時候只用產生磁氣的方法,也不能完全地刪除那些情報。re・birth公司以獨自的技術來開發可以刪除垂直・水平兩種磁氣紀錄方式的裝置。加上,我們實現了小型化,可方便隨身携帯。刪除的工作,是把想要刪除的硬碟機設置好之後,按開始健就能立刻完成。

For computers or hard drives (HDDs) that are no longer in use, it is recommended to perform world-standard, secure, and rapid magnetic data erasure using a magnetic data erasure device before taking them offsite. In December 2019, a major incident occurred in which data leaked from hard drives (HDDs) that were supposed to have been discarded. Such data leakage incidents make the news several times a year. According to Heinrich’s Law, “Behind one major accident, there are 29 minor incidents, and in the background, there are 300 anomalies (‘near misses’).” While there is certainly a problem with vendors reselling devices with incomplete data erasure, the critical mistake in this case was submitting HDDs to a vendor after only performing a simple initialization. It has been confirmed that simple data deletion can easily be recovered with restoration software, and even if an HDD is physically destroyed and rendered inoperable, magnetic data can remain on the platters. With even tiny fragments, advanced techniques can be used to recover the data.
