RAISE-PET:Raman-Assisted Intelligent Sorting Engine for PET-Blended Textiles

This AI-powered molecular fingerprint sorting technology uses Raman spectroscopy to read the chemical features of textile fibers. It can identify dark fabrics and complex blends such as polyester, cotton, and elastane, improving textile sorting efficiency and recycled material purity. With patents across Taiwan, the U.S., and Europe, it won the 2025 R&D 100 Award.
Industrial Applications:
This technology applies to textile recycling and garment collection. Using Raman spectroscopy and AI, it quickly identifies polyester, cotton, elastane, and blended fibers for accurate sorting. It improves recycled material purity, supports “old clothes to new clothes” circular supply chains, and can expand to automated sorting lines.
