Pioneering Cross-Disciplinary Thermoplastic Composite Sounding Rocket Airframe

Technology Introduction:
This technology integrates textile carding with polymer processing to develop directional recycled carbon fiber prepreg tapes for laser 3D-wound composite sounding rockets. Integrating a complete supply chain—from microwave pyrolysis recovery and prepreg/equipment development to advanced laser-winding fabrication—the final airframe is practically validated by NYCU’s ARRC. This convergence of rCF recycling and precision manufacturing successfully drives the industrial transition from sports applications to aerospace technology.
Industrial Applications:
Recycled carbon fibers are classified by length for diverse applications: short fibers serve as functional fillers in cementitious composites; medium-long fibers are compounded and pelletized for thermoplastic composites; and long fibers are converted into rCF mats via needle-punching. These flexible intermediate forms facilitate cross-industry integration, accelerating end-product development.

Plastics Industry Development Center

This organization aims to reshape the value chain of the domestic processing industry through the implementation of key polymer and plastic material technologies. Core missions encompass the smart upgrading of industrial equipment, precision refinement of manufacturing processes, and collaborative development of forward-looking products, while concurrently establishing international technical networks to enhance industrial resilience. The ultimate objective is to achieve breakthroughs in underlying technologies, strategically driving the industry’s transition toward high-value-added development.
