Negative-Carbon Offshore and Ocean Energy Computing Platform
Technology Introduction:
The platform integrates geological databases with numerical carbon storage models to provide interactive 3D GIS visualization of simulation results. Through natural language queries and AI Agent services, users can rapidly access simulation results and visualize the temporal evolution of CO₂ storage. By supporting scientific analysis and site selection, the platform provides intelligent decision support for offshore carbon storage in Taiwan.
Industrial Applications:
The platform supports carbon storage site selection, marine geological surveys, and net-zero decision-making. It enables governments, research institutions, and industry to evaluate subsurface geology and CO₂ storage potential. By integrating AI Agent services, 3D GIS visualization, and HPC simulation, it enhances planning efficiency, reduces assessment costs, and accelerates offshore carbon storage deployment, supporting Taiwan's net-zero transition and sustainable development.
National Center for High-performance Computing, National Institutes of Applied Research
National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC), founded in 1991, is committed to strengthening national high-performance computing (HPC) technology, providing world-class supercomputing and academic research network infrastructure, and laying foundation for the development of technology in Taiwan. NCHC, in the spirit of "driving transformation for a better future with HPC", is dedicated to promoting HPC technology and applications development, leading digital transformation in industries and smart living.
As the national laboratory to own the only shared large-scale computing platform and academic research network facility in Taiwan, NCHC plans and executes research in leading HPC technology and applications. It provides professional technical know-how and platform services to academia, research institutes, industry, and government agencies to progress scientific discovery and digital R&D innovation. It has cultivated countless talents in HPC in various fields.
With the emergence of applications such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and digital twins, the demand for and the importance of HPC are increasing by the day. NCHC will continue to build a new generation of HPC platforms, create robust academic research networks, conduct research on information security and data encryption, and develop advanced HPC methods, quantum computing, and big data analysis. It will also actively participate in international collaboration and exchanges on HPC and networks to create a smarter, more sustainable, and better future.
