Ocean surface wind speed process system of Triton
Technology Introduction:
Data process system of Triton has released v2.1 ocean surface wind speed product in mid-2026. The root mean square error of wind speed is around 2.25 m/s. Furthermore, high wind mode product for typhoon region also has been released. The users can obtain the ocean surface wind speed product of Triton from the website of CWA/TACC. The product not only can be used for Ocean-Atmosphere Interaction but also for weather forecasting accuracy improvement.
Industrial Applications:
The Triton ocean surface wind speed products are applicable to both weather forecasting and environmental monitoring. In weather forecasting, Triton’s wind speed data can be integrated into models via data assimilation to refine wind field analysis and improve forecast accuracy. In environmental monitoring, the broad spatial and temporal coverage of these products benefits the blue economy by supporting shipping route optimization and site selection for offshore wind farms.
