Rotary coding disc and method for designing the same

This technology optimizes optical rotary encoder code disks by selecting suitable De Bruijn sequences instead of conventional M-Code. It suppresses photocurrent blooming noise and improves readout stability without software or hardware changes. Implemented in an in-house 25-bit AC servo motor encoder, it reduced the bit error rate from 262.76 ppm to 0.82 ppm, over 300 times lower. It received the Platinum Award at the 2024 Taiwan Innotech Expo.
Industrial Applications:
This technology can be applied to optical rotary encoders using absolute encoding, especially for compact, high-resolution positioning systems. It supports applications in smart machinery, robotics, semiconductor equipment, green energy, biomedical systems, smart agriculture, and defense industries. By improving motor positioning, speed control, and automation stability, it helps reduce control risks caused by decoding errors.
