CryoDesalination is a patented freeze desalination process that removes salts and heavy metals from seawater and industrial wastewater. It can also harvest valuable minerals such as lithium from water and brines. When using cold waste energy from sources such as LNG regasification, the CryoDesalination process can desalinate water at 1/10th the cost of competing processes, and with zero carbon emissions.
CryoDesalination is based on a natural phenomenon. When salt water freezes, salt is expelled and pure ice is formed. This is not new, but our patented approach allows efficient separation at scale. CryoDesalination is a smarter form of desalination can produce water at a fraction of the cost of Reverse Osmosis or Thermal desalination and in some cases, such as an LNG regasification terminal, produce nearly free water from waste energy.
