Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) started to build a Carbon Reduction Technology Development Campus in the Taichung Power Plant since 2018 for the purpose of carbon capture and utilization. The campus has completed the establishment of a small-scale carbon capture test facility. In the future, a pilot-scale carbon capture plant, a smart greenhouse and an outreach and exhibition center will be built in the campus. Those facility will collect test data as a basis for expanding the scale of carbon capture to million tons per year scale in the future. The campus will also incorporate an education display platform to make the research results available to the public and increase public awareness of Taipower’s carbon reduction technology.
