In line with the government’s "Five Plus Two" innovative industrial policy, Taiwan Sugar Corporation promotes the "Green Energy Infrastructure Construction Science City Foundation Supporting" plan to invest in the new "Taiwan Sugar Shalun Smart Green Energy Recycling Residence" on the northeastern edge of Tainan High Speed Rail Station. It is the first to introduce the concept of circular economy into the residential construction industry. In addition to meeting the housing needs of the employees of the Science City and Tainan Science Park
, it is also expected to enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan’s construction industry through innovation in architectural planning and construction.

TaiSugar Circular Village, the district includes three residential buildings (from the 5th to the 8th floors), and a leisure information exchange center (Demo-House) on the 3rd floor. The total floor area of the village is 38,479.72 square meters, and it provides 351 residential units. The project was proposed in 2017 and completed in July of this year (2021). From planning, design to construction, the village upholds the concept of low-carbon, ecology, and zero waste, and it has achieved smart building gold level, green building diamond level and low-carbon building Diamond-level certification. It also embraces building materials passports, atrium farmland landscape, energy recycling sharing, and innovative business models of renting and purchasing agents. In addition to taking into account the interests of commercial development and activation of reginal economy, the main goal of the village is to achieve recycling and reuse of resources for better sustainability.
