Using Fast Power Restoration in Localization Distribution Network Management System
This system is the integration of load transfer strategy proposing and cross- platform data exchanging techniques on the localization Distribution Network Management System. When a fault occurs in a feeder, it carries out power restoration solutions. Also, the system is integrated with SCADA and GIS. It is in operation to effectively manage more than 300 feeders and 700 MW renewable energy devices in Yunlin County, Taiwan. In 2020, the system has successfully performed 231 times of feeder accident judgement and assisted Taiwan Power Company (TPC) to accelerate power restoration.
For this technique, single-feeder and multi-feeder load transfer, and cross-platform data exchanging functions are integrated into the localization distribution network management system. When a feeder fault occurs, the load in the downstream area corresponding to the fault area can be derived by taking the estimated power generation of renewable energy devices into consideration. With the adoption of AHP, dispatchers can take out proper load transfer solutions according to the actual situations. The GIS is adopted to display the actual feeder operating condition in a more graphical way.
This technique is transferred to several companies in Taiwan, so as to enhance the distribution network management technique for local power industries. With power flow calculation and GIS integrated, the key techniques, such as single and multi feeder load transfer, and cross-platform data, are adopted by Yunlin Branch of TPC and have made some tangible achievements. The distribution management company is going to promote the system to other 13 counties and cities in Taiwan, so that helps TPC to effectively manage more than 4000 feeders and accomplish the mission of fast power restoration.
