JTED is designed to reduce bycatch in trawling fishery. Based on the principle of size screening, the juvenile and trash fish guided into the trawl net will have a chance to escape when they touch the JTED, while the larger economical fish cannot pass through the JTED and follow the water current to be caught in the codend. The juvenile and trash fish excluded by JTED are all living bodies, which can be converted into basic productivity in the ocean, and promoting the recovery of aquatic resources in the surrounding waters of Taiwan.
