Novel Metabolic Target: Modulating the Intestinal FcRn-IgG Axis to Reverse Metabolic Inertia & Lipid Dysregulation
Technology Introduction:
This technology identifies the gut-wall FcRn–IgG axis as a novel therapeutic target underlying “metabolic inertia,” in which lipid dysregulation persists even after dietary improvement. Gut-directed disruption of FcRn–IgG interactions prevents post-diet triglyceride deterioration and may reset the gut’s metabolic memory. In vivo proof-of-concept studies further demonstrate metabolic benefits without detectable systemic IgG depletion, providing a mechanism-distinct therapeutic strategy for lipid dysregulation, obesity recurrence, and metabolic liver disease.
Industrial Applications:
This technology enables development of gut-restricted therapeutics for post-weight-loss metabolic rebound, dyslipidemia, obesity, and metabolic liver disease. It is compatible with oral delivery platforms, including pH-dependent formulations, smart capsules, and small molecules. The platform offers opportunities for licensing, co-development, and expansion of FcRn therapeutics into metabolic indications beyond systemic IgG depletion.
National Health Research Institutes
