TSC Huwei agricultural circulation pig farm is the first facility to operate within TSC's NTD10 billion swine farm renovation project; and it fully highlights the work of the domestic agriculture and livestock farming sectors on achieving net-zero emissions. The pig farm is designed to house 20,000 growing-finishing pigs at a time. It adopts negative pressure ventilation with water curtain, rainwater and wastewater separation systems, and intelligent pig farm management. Pig manure and urine are transported by independent and closed pipes to reduce odors, and the biogas waste is reused as organic compost further applied in farm soils. It not only turns pig slurry into green gold, but also reaches animal welfare, zero waste, and sustainability. Compared to a traditional pigpen, Huwei pig farm can reduce water usage by 75%, generate 2,650 million kWh of green power annually, and lower carbon emissions of 1,350 metric tons of CO2e (equal amounts of CO2 absorbed by 90,000 trees). It makes pig farming more efficient, smart, and low-carbon to set a new benchmark for Taiwan's pig industry and advance toward net-zero targets.
