Micro-light-emitting diodes (μ-LEDs) have become the focus of display research because of their excellent properties in terms of brightness, lifetime, resolution and efficiency. Micro-LED displays are projected to reach $7 billion in 2025 on a revenue basis (Omdia). In addition, μ-LEDs could combine with heterogeneous integration technologies such as μSensor and optical engine so that technologies that use micro-LEDs offer the new possibilities in high dynamic ranges, such as augmented/mixed reality, car display, wearable devices, etc. Of this amount, Digi-Capital’s long-term augmented and virtual reality forecast is for the AR/VR market to reach around $65 billion revenue by 2024.
