Jelly fig () is an indigenous crop in Taiwan. A high-value extract was developed from the embryonic cells of jelly fig. The extract maintained the active compound, it was found to be non-toxic and showed melanin inhibition, anti-oxidation, solar-aging resistance, anti-inflammation, and skin repair in cell and animal models. These findings have been published in international journals. Furthermore, the development of healthcare products has been further completed and anti-inflammation clinical trials are now being carried out. It suggested that the jelly fig extract is a potential material for pharmaceutical applications.
