Transparent flexible display fabricated by self-emitting quantum dot device and bank-free panel technology
Electroluminescent self-emitting quantum dots technology is considered as the next-generation display technology. The transparent QD integrating device is fabricated under the atmosphere, consisting of QDs with shielded structure, carrier transport materials, alloyed transparent electrode. The QD self-emitting display is also fabricated in pixel-bank-free structure with the high transparency and the world’s highest luminance. Self-emitting QD displays have lighter weight and thinner structure compared to that of traditional displays, showing potential for transparent indicator/VR displays.
Electroluminescent transparent quantum dot (QD) device/display with shielded QDs and carrier transport layers are fabricated under the atmosphere by coating process. The device/display perform world’s highest luminance with dual-side emission, and the viewing angle of device reach nearly 360°. The QDs are protected by an additional crystal shell, this unique structure guarantees high emission intensity in the device. By introducing alloy transparent electrode, the transparency of the entire device is 70%. The world’s first pixel-bank-free transparent QD displays is also demonstrated.
Quantum dots (QDs) have novel properties such as narrow emission spectrum, distinctive reliability and long lifetime. Recently, QDs are being introduced into commercial displays and the lighting products. Self-emitting QD technology can be applied to transparent displays, including head-up displays, smart appliance, digital signage displays. According to the forecast reported by P&S Intelligence, the global market of transparent displays will reach US$4,933.6 million by 2024, which indicates the outstanding potential of transparent displays in the future.
