Next-Generation Thermoplastic Composite UAV Manufacturing Technology

To meet rising demand for thermoplastic composite UAVs and reduce import dependence, we developed high-performance prepregs, long-fiber thermoplastics, and hybrid molding technology. This enables UAV parts production over five times faster than thermoset processes. Ultrasonic welding replaces drilling, cutting metal use, weight, and carbon emissions by over 40%. All parts are recyclable. This strengthens Taiwan’s composite supply chain and boosts competitiveness in the global UAV market.

Plastics Industry Development Center

The Plastics Industry Development Center (PIDC), a non-profit organization in Taiwan, envisions becoming a globally recognized research and development service institute for plastics technology. With a long-term focus on global net-zero policies, PIDC is actively supporting Taiwan’s industries in promoting sustainable development. Its primary service sectors include medical devices, transportation equipment and components, food packaging, green energy technologies, smart manufacturing, and agriculture. In response to the global push for net-zero emissions and carbon neutrality, PIDC has aligned its operations with the principles of green and sustainable development. PIDC’s R&D efforts center around the GRASS materials strategy, which integrates five key value elements into plastic materials innovation, including Green Materials, Recycled Materials, Advanced Composites Materials, Smart Materials and Safe Plastics. Through this approach, PIDC aims to develop a new generation of high-value plastic materials and innovative applications, demonstrating strong performance in green and sustainable development.
