BACKGROUND: In order to implement the government’s policy of “National Space Technology Long-Term Development Program”, NARI has developed high efficiency space solar cells by our own technologies such as epitaxy of solar cells and electrode manufacturing process etc.
CURRENT TECHNOLOGY STATUS: The highest efficiency of standard solar cells with light receiving area of 30.18 cm2 is up to 30%. These cells also follow the international test standard ECSS-E-ST-20-08C for radiation environment reliability verification to ensure that they can maintain excellent performance for the duration of satellite programs. In the future, the cells are expected to be used on FORMOSAT-8.
